Halloween Table Runner – Flimsy Complete

From the hexagon and octagon table toppers leftovers, I made this table runner yesterday. This has yet to be quilted–only finished to the flimsy stage at this point.

The pattern was free on the internet and can be found at: http://www.hoffmanfabrics.com/quilts/holiday.html

Caution: The pattern says that this piece will finish 17″ wide by 59 1/2″ long. My flimsy currently measures 19″ wide by 66″ long. This is not that complicated a pattern. I followed the directions as they were printed so I believe the pattern has a misprint. I am now faced with three options because it will not fit the buffet/hutch that I made it for.

1. Finish it as is and use it under the table that our TV sits on.

2. Take it apart and cut it down so that it will fit the buffet / hutch.

3. Finish it as is and find it a new home. Mom, will it fit your dining room table? Are you interested?

  1. Don’t you hate it when instructions are inaccurate. I’m sure if you finish it you will make someone happy and Christmas is coming, even if it is a Halloween theme.

  2. Would it look okay just hanging over the edges? But I guess it sounds like maybe there’s not enough extra to make it hang nicely. Sure do love it though!! If it doesn’t work for Mom, I think I’d cut it down. That wouldn’t be too bad to do.

  3. If there are more leftovers can you just make another one and send this along to your mom? It is really cute and looks as if it would be a fun way to use up lots of different holiday prints, I have some cupcake print that would make a cute “special day” table runner.

  4. How cute! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the hex table topper!!!! And about the denim quilts… the red and white fabric is actually twill- you know that kind that we would make a skirt out of- not too heavy or too light as the denim is worn to a fairly soft stage. I used Soft and Bright batting- it is thin, but dense, and so it has a lot of “push.” Looks kinda fluffy when all quilted up. The backing is just novelty cotton. Flannel would be very nice, though- keep it from sliding off the bed! I just have found that sometimes flannel doesn’t last as long as cotton and the boys will definitely need to wash these quilts!
