Quilt Show This Weekend

This Saturday, our quilt guild is hosting its first “hung” quilt show.

In the past we have had two “show and tell” type quilt shows where guests were invited to view the quilts at specific times during the day. The MC read the “story” related to each quilt as it was held up for viewing on the stage. The problem with this type of show is that people showed up at various times during the day to see the quilts and it was not necessarily when one of our “showings” was scheduled.

This year we are having a traditional quilt show where the quilts are hung from quilt racks in a hall. This type of show is a lot more work to set up than the show and tell version but I think it will be appreciated more by our viewing audience.

I head out later today to help set up quilt racks and hang quilts. The show opens tomorrow.

If you are near by this weekend, drop in and see our “best”. If you can’t get to our quilt show in person, return to this site later in the weekend for the “virtual” version.

Quilting My Own Quilts

I haven’t been posting a lot to my blog lately. I have been quilting–just not my own projects. The quilting of customer quilts has taken up all my spare time. Yesterday, I decided to take a break from everyone else’s quilts and load one of my own.

This quilt has been a completed flimsy since February. It is made from Mile a Minute blocks, also known as Crumb blocks.

This afternoon, I am getting together with other members of our quilt show committee to assemble some of the quilt frames for our upcoming quilt show on October 28. We are borrowing the quilt racks from another guild and have never used them before. Since we have limited time to set up for our show on Friday night, we felt the need for a “rehearsal”.

Flowers From Ferndale

Aren’t these flowers beautiful!

I received flowers on Friday at work. They are from my co-workers at my old work location. I started work at a new work location on the 12th–same employer; I have just moved to a work location closer to home. I will miss my co-workers at the old site but I will not miss the 1 1/2 hours driving in my car everyday!

Friday the 13th is supposed to be an unlucky day–but as you can see, it was just the opposite sort of day for me!

Thank you Ferndale staff! Posted by Picasa

What Season Are You?

I see that many others are checking what season they are, so I jumped in. Spring is my favorite time of year. That is when the days are getting longer and warmer. Spring represents new life. It is so much fun watching for flowers to bloom, trees to come out in leaf, and watch the baby animals in the fields on the farms near here. So here it is………

You Belong in Spring

Optimistic, lively, and almost always happy with the world…
You can truly appreciate the blooming nature of spring.
Whether you’re planting flowers or dyeing Easter eggs, spring is definitely your season!

Chicken Towne Purse

When Karen of Passionate Quilter fame posted her Towne Purse last week, her post reminded me that I have also made the same purse. I used chicken and egg fabrics for my version.

This is the front…………
and this is the back………
This pattern is called Towne Purse and it is from Lazy Girl Designs.

I use my purse for my hand work supplies. It is always stocked with a hand applique project so that if I need to grab a portable project in a hurry it is ready to go. Posted by Picasa
